Day 96: Installation for a window show
It was such a beautiful day, it’s 24 degrees outside but the covid case numbers are 125 including 56 in community in Victoria. Whenever you turn on TV news shitshows are just everywhere.
It is finally setup day for my window exhibition at Small Space Jewellery. It was 21 years ago when this beautiful gallery in Fitzroy North was established by Robyn Wernicke, she has been working as a jeweller and designer for over 30 years. It is on busy St. Geoges Rd. (365A St. Georges rd. North Fitzroy VIC ). Lockdown will definitely limit people’s movement but honestly I am happy that I can have a physical show, which was definitely a smart plan to celebrate the completion of my project, “Craft Habit 100/100 Vol.2: My LaLaLand” .

This 2-story gallery/workshop/office has a triangle window space. Not too big or small but right size for displaying small objects. I have a 3 tier display plan: one is for pendants with colourful frames, the other is for brooches and small pipe miniature objects with frames and the last is a PVC plastic pipe structure hanging on the wall for my most recent series, “pipe way”
I worried that the PVC pipe structures will not hold together after hanging all the pendants on the wall and hoped all the colourful frames would not get knocked over during display. There has been a small adjustment to my initial plan here and there but the installation hanging on the wall has been completed successfully.

Process of installation
Using display materials Robyn has in the gallery to lift the presentation of the miniature pipe objects ran like clockwork. All installed and ready to go now.
It is a window show @small_space_jewellery as part of @radiantpavilion. If you are within 5km radius of Fitzroy North you can go and have a look. Despite the necessary limitation that I can’t control under covid restrictions I think it is still worth celebrating some of the hard work and I’m happy for it to be the way it is. It’s been good fun but also sometimes frantically busy. Some more work for my blog I need to finish, which means I will have a good rest and look after family better when its over.

24도의 화창한 날이었지만 빅토리아에서는 125의 새로운 감염자가 발생했고 56개의 감염경로가 여전히 추적중인 날이었다. 텔레비젼을 켤 때마다 보고싶지 않은 것들이 쏟아지기도 했다.
그래도 스몰스페이스 쥬얼리에서의 윈도우 전시를 설치하는 날이 드디어 왔다. 노스 피츠로이에 로빈 워니케가 이 아름다운 겔러리를 만든 것이 21년 전의 일이었다. 로빈은 지난 30여년 간을 장신구 작가로서 활동하고 잇다. 겔러리는 늘 차와 사람들로 붐비는 세인트 조지 로드위에 있다. 봉쇄조치로 사람들이 자유롭게 움직이지는 못하지만 나는 솔직히 말해서 이렇게 윈도우 전시를 할 수 있는 것 만으로도 행복하다. 그리고 그것은 “크라프트 습관 100/100 제 2권: 내 라라랜드” 의 프로젝트를 마감하는 것을 축하하기 위한 똑똑한 계획이었다고 말할 수 있겠다.

2층으로 된 겔러리/작업실/사무실이 함께 있는 이 건물의 한 부분으로 삼각형으로 된 전시공간이 있다. 작은 오브제들을 전시하기 위한 너무 크지도 너무 작지도 않은 딱 적절한 공간이다. 나는 세단계 전시 계획을 가지고 있었는데 하나는 팬던트를 여러색의 프레임에 전시하는 것, 그 다음으로는 브로치와 작은 파이프 미니어쳐 오브제를 프레임과 함께 전시하는 것, 그리고 마지막으로는 피브이씨 플라스틱 파이프 구조물에 내 가장 최신 작인 “파이프 웨이”를 거는 것들이 그것이다.
나는 피브이씨 플라스틱 파이프가 모든 팬던트를 달고 벽에 잘 걸쳐질 수 있을까를 걱정하였고 여러 색의 프레임이 전시하는 중간에 넘어지지 않기를 바랬다. 처음 계획에서 여기저기 약간의 수정이 있었지만 우선 벽의 설치물은 성공적으로 잘 걸리게 되었다.
미니어쳐 파이프 오브제를 로빈이 가지고 있는 디스플레이 재료들로 사용해서 좀 더 잘 보이게 한 것 외에는 모든 계획들이 잘 진행되었다. 모두 잘 설치 되었고 지금은 모두 볼 수 잇다.
래디언트 퍼빌리온 행사의 한 부분으로 스몰스페이스 쥬얼리에서의 윈도우 전시회이다. 노스 피츠로이에서 5키로 반경이면 가서 볼 수 있다. 봉쇄조치 속의 어쩔 수 없는 제한들이 있음에도 불구하고 그간의 열심히 해온 일을 축하할만 하며 나는 이대로 행복함을 느낀다. 참 재미있었고 또 때로는 미친듯이 바쁘기도 했었다. 아직 블로그를 마무리 할 일이 남아 있지만 그것을 마치면 충분한 휴식을 취하면서 가족들을 좀 더 잘 돌볼 수 있을 것이다.
