Day 82: Lego piece
“The lego piece” (pendant)- lego, mildsteel, silver and nylon.
Finally I completed this piece. Going back the idea was firstly developed in Feb, 2019. Considering a structural balance in unexpected forms I was trying to develop a new series combining legos and perforated structures. On that moment, the moment I was thinking of new work to slowly move away from my usual perforation I thought about writing blog. Those days between my father’s death and mother’s death going through emotional breakdown I desperately needed something to make me busy and commit myself on.

Since then I have been creating everything with better mindfulness and consciousness. It was so clear that I would use legos as material and motive for this piece and would like to see how the lego structure can be merging nicely into my perforation ones. I casted one lego part with silver and built the little structure. Perforated mildsteel with silver edge was soldered onto the silver casted.
I am not so sure if this is ok with the copyright but I guess this will be ok as I used legos parts as found objects. I will look into it more but at this stage it is just for the window exhibition coming up in September at Small Space Jewellery. However, during some research regarding to copyright of lego I have come across this fantastic lego jewellery by Emiko Oye.
마침내 이 작업을 완성시켰다. 되돌아보면 처음 아이디어는 2019년 2월 이었다. 예측불가능한 형태의 구조적인 균형을 고려하면서 레고와 천공된 형태를 합친 새 시리즈를 계발하려고 하였다. 그 순간, 익숙하던 천공된 형태를 만드는 것에서 서서히 떠나려고 생각하던 그 순간 나는 블로그를 쓰겠다고 생각하였다. 아버지와 어머니의 죽음 사이에 낀 그때의 날들-감정적으로 쇠약해침을 겪으면서 나는 나를 바쁘게 하고 적극적으로 그리고 충실하게 매달리게할 그 무언가가 절실하게 필요하였다.
그때 이후로 나는 좀 더 집중하고 의식적으로 모든것을 말들어 왔다. 레고를 내 재료로 그리고 하나의 동기로 작업에 사용하는 것은 아주 분명하였고 그래서 어떻게 레고가 천공 구조와 하나로 멋지게 합쳐지게 되는지를 보고 싶었다. 한 레고 파트를 은으로 주물제작하고 그렇게 이 작은 구조를 만들었다. 은으로 된 테두리를 가진 천공된 연강의 작은 부분이 은주물에 땜해졌다.
그런데 이것이 레고의 저작권과 괜찮을지는 완전한 확신은 없지만 레고를 발견된 오브제 중의 하나로 내 작업에 사용했으니 아마도 괜찮을 것 같아. 이 문제에 대해서는 좀더 살펴볼 것이지만 이 작업은 지금은 9월에 있을 스몰 스페이스 쥬얼리에서의 윈도우 전시회를 위한 것이다. 그러나 레고의 저작권에 관련해 조사를 하면서 나는 에미코 오예의 멋들어진 레고 장신구와 만나게 되었다.
