Day 73: Pipe Miniature - Assemblage of Pipe miniature

The video above is showing how I assemble the components of “Miniature pipes” to make one piece. I have created so many components for this series. They were made using new materials, old work, collection, my daughter’s toy box, parts and fittings of old watches that my father-in-law sent.

Assembling and disassembling components means the structure of the work is interchangeable. It also means I could revive a very crucial factor that was once always in my work “playfulness”. The interchangeability is granted by each component’s screw-cut-end design using a tap and die set.

I made these individual components using many different materials. The most exciting part was recomposing, fitting and parts of old watches and setting cubic zirconia in lego parts. It was like making jewels for the structure. I would like to include the meaning of the time, playfulness and my long time work signature, perforation all in one hoping to indicate a great conceptual vision to my work. 

위의 비디오는 내가 어떻게 “미니어쳐 파이프”의 부속품들을 조합하여 하나의 작품으로 만들고 있는지를 보여주고 있다. 이 새로운 시리즈를 위해서 나는 많은 부속품들을 만들었다. 그것들은 모두 새로운 재료, 내 오래된 작업, 수집품, 내 딸의 장난감 상자 그리고 시아버지가 보내주신 오래된 시계의 부품들이 사용되어 만들어진 것이다. 부품들을 조립하고 분해할 수 있다는 것은 상호교환성을 희미하고 이것은 또한 내가 내 작업의 잊혀진 하나의 중요한 특징인 “유희성” 을 살려냈다는 것을 의미하기도 한다. 이 상호교환성은 각각의 부품에 탭과 다이 세트를 사용해 나사로 끝을 만듦으로서 부여되었다. 

나는 여러종류의 재료료 각각의 부품을 만들었다. 가장 흥미진진한 점은 오래된 시계의 부품을 다시 만들고 레고에 큐빅을 세팅하는 것이었다. 그것은 마치 구조물들에 부석을 만들어 붙이는 것과도 같았다. 나는 시간, 유희성 그리고 내 작업의 오랜시간 상징성 이었던 천공무늬의 의미를 모두 하나에 넣어보고 싶었다. 그래서 내 작업의 개념적인 어떤 비젼을 보여주고 싶었던 것이다.
