Day 47: Integral part for the pendant
Yesterday this was an incomplete work and I thought perhaps it would be good as a brooch, but because of the structure the ready made brooch fitting would not fit nicely at the back.
So today I bent a tube so I could run a thread through it and soldered it into the circle boundary. The idea is a functional part of the jewellery should be integrated into the design. Using tubes for the pendant red nylon string can be nicely threaded through the bent tube, which becomes an integral part of the whole pendant.

Then I swapped one of the adornments with the Nirvana engraved one. I played a little more with red colour and perforation as golden brass I thought it would be a well-matched colour with red. Working on another batch of work for red Powdercoating I added a perforated cup with brass rim and screw for red. However, I haven’t decided which one I like more. Let’s see how I will decide tomorrow.
Everyday I go a little further than the day before and introduce a couple of new things into the design. There are so many things to do as I planned to have two exhibitions in September. I admit I am a little panicked at the moment as yet again I am worrying about the result. But I will be mindful of every single work I make. Be mindful of becoming the best version of work and myself everyday!
Brass, mildsteel, powder coated mildsteel and silver- The same pendant with 2 different ornaments
어제로부터 넘어 온 미완성된 작업이었고 나는 아마도 브로치가 적합하겠거니 생각했었다. 그러나 또 한편으로는 이미 만들어진 구조로는 뒷면에 브로치 장식이 멋지게 들어갈 자리가 없다고도 생각했다. 마음을 바꿔서 튜브를 구부려 원으로 된 경계선 쪽에 땜질해서 넣었다. 장신구의 기능적인 부분이 전체 디자인의 한부분으로 합쳐지는 것이 내 아이디어였다. 튜브를 팬던트에 사용하면서 빨간 나일론 실이 전체 디자인의 한부분으로 잘 섞여져 있는 구부려진 튜브를 잘 꿰어 통과한다.
그리고는 두개의 장식물 중 하나를 니르바나가 새겨진 장식물로 바꾸었다. 또한 빨간색의 천공무늬를 약간 가지고 놀아보기도 했다. 황금색의 동이 빨간색과는 잘 어울리는 색일 것이다. 다음 파우더 코팅을 빨간색으로 계획하면서 이 빨간색으로 코팅될 황동의 테두리를 가진 천공된 컵 모양을 미리 만들어 보았다. 그런데 아직 어떤 디자인이 맘에 드는지 결정하지 못했으니 내일을 기대하시라.
매일 나는 조금씩 앞으로 나아가고 몇가지 새로운 디자인적 시도를 하고 있다. 9월에 두개의 전시회를 준비하고 있으니 할일이 많은 것이 당연하다. 결과에 대한 걱정이 앞서 지금 약간 많이 긴장되는 것도 사실이지만 나는 내가 만드는 하나하나의 작업에 집중할 것이다. 매일 가장 최상의 버전을 가진 내 작업과 내가 되기 위한 마음챙김을 하자!
