Day 46: Brooch #2

Even though I create pipe structures for jewellery in a fixed boundary, circle I have found I am still able to make them in different lengths, heights and angles according to how they are attached to the circle. The one I made doesn’t carry too much negative space in the middle but still shows many things such as depth and direction.

The brooch is more like a miniature for complicated pipe structures we can see inside any building. Now I am really aware that no matter how many screws I use it is not possible to fill up the negative space in between pipes I created. It was inevitable. The drawing like below is a sketch or photo from a certain distance from the real structures so that they don’t show the space. It speaks of itself but I didn’t realise that until I actually made part of it to a different scale.

나는 지금 정해진 경계선인 원 안에 장신구를 위한 파이프 구조물을 만들고 있지만 이 파이프들이 어떻게 원안에 붙여질지에 따라서 여러 다른 길이, 높이 그리고 각도로 여전히 만들 수 있음을 알게되었다. 내가 지금 만드는 것은 중간에 여백을 많이 만들지 않으면서도 깊이나 방향같은 많은 것들을 보여준다. 

그래서 내가 지금 만드는 브로치는 우리가 건물 안에서 볼수 있는 복잡한 파이프 구조물의 축소모형이다. 지금은 내가 얼마나 많은 나사장치를 사용하든지에 상관없이 만들어진 파이프 사이에 형성된 여백은 채울수가 없음을 깨닫는다. 그것은 불가피한 것이었다. 위의 첫 이미지 같은 그림은 실재 파이프 구조물을 거리를 두고 찍은 사진을 스케치 한 것이므로 파이프 사이의 여백은 보이지 않는다. 그것은 자명하다. 단지 내가 그것의 일부분을 다른 사이즈로 실재로 만들기 전 까지는 깨닫지 못했을 뿐..
