Day 33: Little sculpture "Connection" no1, 2, 3

It has been almost 2 months since I started to make pipe structures inspired by Mycelium ceiling. I have made 22 all different structures of pipes and 4 different components from old watch and some old work fragments. Among those pipes I enamelled some and powder coated a couple of them to see how it makes the structure more interesting. Also wood, capacitor, plastic and acrylic was involved to the structures. The most exciting part of the development for this new series is I finally came to know how I can introduce emotional value which can be connected to personal stories and believes to my work. I couldn’t expect this as one of the interim findings I would get when I started but honestly it is really fascinating. Here are some of small sculptures I called “Connection”. They don’t look like something to wear but it is something definitely different to what I have made for years.

마이셀리움 스튜디오의 천장에서 영감을 받은 파이프 구조물을 만들기 시작한지 약 두달이 되어가고 있다. 지금까지 22개의 모두 다른 파이프를 만들었고 낡은 시계와 지난 작업들의 파편에서 4개의 부속품을 만들었다. 구조물을 좀 더 흥미롭게 보이기 위해서 이 파이프들 중 몇몇은 에나멜링을 해보았고 몇개는 파우더코팅을 했다. 또한 나무, 콘덴서, 플라스틱 과 아크릴을 구조에 포함시켜 보았다. 이 개발 과정 중 내게 가장 흥미진진한 것은 마침내 개인적인 얘기와 믿음등으로 연결되는 감성적인 가치를 어떻게 내 작업과정에 도입할지를 알게되었다는 것이다. 처음 이 시리즈를 시작할 때는 이런 중간결과를 갖게될지는 예상하지 못했으나 솔직히 꽤 매력적인 결과이다. 여기 “연결(코넥션)”이라는 타이틀으로 몇몇의 작은 구조물을 만들어 본 사진이다. 몸에 걸치는 장신구의 형태는 아니지만 내가 수년간 만들어 온 것과는 분명히 다른 것들이다.
