Day 29: Monday...Powdercoating blues
I was not so productive today I am sure I had the Monday blues and Monday is a short day because I finish at three to pick my daughter up from school. But still I got a couple of things done. First of all I delivered a batch of work for Powdercoating in Preston. The colour will be florescent green and the batch includes one pair of earrings order overdue for a friend in Sydney and another pair of earrings I will give to a friend for exchanging her work having made our couch cover. There were 35 individual pieces all made, cleaned and sandblasted to be ready for getting powdercoated.

Then I was back at the studio, parked the car and went for a walk to get some coffee. I am always nervous before I take my work to the powdercoaters because I worry about variables which may or may not happen. For example will he (powdercoater) be still in the business after COVID? Will he be happy to do my work? Will my work get done by the due date? Will it cost too much?
The coffee after that drop off was so delicious and the music I was listening from my phone while walking was sweet.
At my bench today I produced a pair of earrings and two pendants for that will be powder coated different colours. One of the pendants is for an order from my stockist egetal . I didn’t have time to make new pipe structures today but I could finish one pipe I made last week.

오늘은 그리 생산적인 날이 되지 못한 것이 월요병 때문인가 하고 생각도 했고 오후 3시면 아이를 데리러 가야하는 그런 짧은 날이기 때문인 것도 같았다. 그래도 몇가지 일을 마무리 지었다. 우선 프레스톤에 있는 파우더코팅에 작업을 맡기러 갔었다. 색깔은 형광 연두색이며 그 한꾸러미의 작업에는 시드니에 사는 친구가 주문한 귀걸이 한 쌍-너무 주문에 비해 늦어졌다- 과 거실 소파의 커버를 만들어준 친구에게 그 댓가로 주기로 한 또 한쌍의 귀걸이 주문이 포함되어있다. 어쨌든 모두 다 만들어지고, 깨끗하게고 표면분사처리를 마친 35개의 각기 다른 작업들이다.
그리고 다시 작업실로 돌아와, 차를 주차시키고, 걸어서 커피를 사러갔다. 나는 파우더코터에게 가기 전에 일어날지도 모르는 변수들 때문에 항상 긴장을 한다. 예를 들어 아직도 이 파우더 코팅하는 사업장이 코비드 시대 이후인 지금도 영업중일까? 아직도 내 일을 맡아줄까? 내 작업들이 기한 내에 끝내질까? 너무 비싸지는 않을까? 등등. 어쨌든 그 일을 마치고 난 후의 커피는 달달했고 걸으면서 들었던 음악은 감미로웠다.
작업장에서 나는 다른 색으로 파우더코팅될 귀걸이 한 쌍과 2개의 팬던트를 만들었다. 그 중 한 팬던트는 내가 작업을 전시하는 겔러리인 egetal의 주문이다. 짦은 하루라 새로운 파이프를 만들 시간을 없었으나 지난 주 만들었던 한 파이프를 끝내기도 해다.
자, 이것이 내 보통의 작업실 에서의 하루이다. 내일은 좀 더 창의적이고 생산적이기를 기대해 본다.
