Day 20: Double Shadow for red

Extended shadow was my exciting new direction in Day 82 as well as Day 77 of my journal vol.1

Perforated metal sheet is used for mainly energy saving and ventilation needs in architecture. Decoratively it opens the vision oppressed by closed space and the shadow casted by light provides the space much more depth. I was so mesmerised by this idea of creating more depth at space and have been thinking of how I can bring this again and apply it into my new work.

I tried to create minimalistic shadow for the red powder coated hexagon structure however, it ended up with double structures of shadow surrounding the red. I probably need better and more clever design for this red but I think it will be a good combination duo with pink brooch called, “The shadow as extended geometry”

연장된 그림자는 첫번째 블로그 77일째와 82일째에 써 있듯이 내 흥분되는 새 작품 방향이었다. 천공무늬의 금속판은 대게는 에너지 절감과 환기를 위해 건축에 사용되어지는 자재이다. 장식적인 목적으로는 닫혀진 장소에 억압된 시야를 틔우고 빛으로 부터 생성되어진 그 그림자는 그 장소에 훨씬 더 많은 깊이를 더한다. 나는 이러한 공간을 더 깊이 있게 만드는 아이디어에 매혹되었고 그것을 내 작업에 적용하려고 한다. 

나는 이 빨간 파우더 코팅된 육각형 구조에 미니멀리즘적인 그림자를 만들어보려고 했었지만 결국은 빨간육각형의 형태를 감싸는 이중적인 구조를 만들게 되었다. 아마도 좀더 향상되고 영리한 디자인을 만들수도 있었겠지만 “연장된 기하학으로서의 그림자” 라고 이름지었던 분홍색의 브로치와 어울리는 듀오가 되기에는 좋을 듯 하다.
