Day 14: New stockist- Artisan in Queensland

It is great to have another stockist as an artist and I was especially happy to get email requesting stock from Artisan where once presented my work (earlier in my career). I have really organised groups of production line work such as double hexagon earrings and pendants, perforated cup with silver rim, perforated ball earrings, big perforated round bangles, round hoops and more. It is a repetitive production in process but I am very grateful I could survive as an artist by producing them over 7 years.

Here is my artist bio:

Jin Ah Jo is a contemporary jewellery artist living and working in Melbourne, Australia. For her making jewellery is all about creating wearable unpredicted forms. Jin Ah's process leverages her cross-cultural experiences of being born in Korea and studying, living and working in Australia. She emigrated from South Korea to Australia in 2000 and finished a Masters of Fine Art at Monash University in 2008 including study at Fachhochschule Düsseldorf, in Germany in 2006. In 2015 she participated in LOOT at Museum of Arts and Design in NYC and had a solo show, “Ohmaebulmang” at egetal in 2016. She has been awarded City of Melbourne COVID-19 Arts Grants in 2020 and Artstart Grant Australia Council for the Art in 2010.

작가로서 판매할 수 있는 겔러리를 하나 더 가질 수 있다는 것은 훌륭한 일이다. 그래서 특히 내가 작가로서 초기에 이력을 쌓을 때 내 작품을 전시하고 팔았었던 퀸즈랜드의 아티산(장인) 에서 다시 작품을 보내 달라는 요청을 받고는 무척 기뻤다. 내게는 엄선된 프로덕션 장신구 라인이 있다. 예를 들어 2중 라인의 육각형 귀걸이와 목걸이 세트, 천공된 컵 모양인데 은선이 둘러진 귀걸이, 천공된 볼 모양의 귀걸이, 큰 천공 팔찌, 둥근 후프 귀걸이 등이 그것이다. 반복되는 생산과정이긴 하지만 프로작가로서 활동한 지난 기간 중 7년이상의 기간에 이 생산라인의 판매가 가능해 계속 작가로서 직업을 지속할 수 있었음에 나는 감사하고 있다.

여기 내 작가 바이오그라피:

진아 조는 호주 멜버른에서 생활하고 작업하는 현대장신구 작가이다. 그녀에게 장신구 작업이란 몸에 걸칠수 있는 예측불허의 형태를 만드는 것으로 요약된다. 작업과정은 한국에서 태어나서 호주에서 공부하고, 살고 작업하는 다양한 문화적 경험이 바탕이 된다. 진아는 2000년 대한민국에서 호주로 이민왔고, 2008년 모나쉬 대학의 미술석사를 마쳐 학위를 받았다. 이 공부 기간 중 독일 뒤셀도르프의 파호슐레에서 공부한 기간이 2006년에 있었다. 중요 전시회 기록으로는 2015년에는 뉴욕의 예술과 디자인 박물관의 장신구 전시회인 LOOT에 참석했으며, 2016년 멜버른의 이지에탈 겔러리에서 “오매불망” 개인전을 가졌다. 간단한 수상경력으로는 2010년 호주예술위원회 작가시작 그란트와 2020년 멜번시티의 코비드-19 예술가 그란트를 받았다
