Day 2: Revisit- yellow stitches
Reasons: Even though it is a lot of work every day I am committed to writing this blog for 100 days until August. It will only be a couple of paragraphs every time I write but what a mindful process for making!
Making is sometimes or a lot of work and at times a unremunerative activity often makes me feel empty. (Just like ‘What Am I Doing here?’) But now I see the meaning of emptiness in different way as ever changing ultimate reality so that I believe it will contribute my creativity. Learning is always such a victory to improve yourself.
Revisit: I have finally completed this brooch since I started the first one in 2019 and I included a brief statement in day 25 of the previous volume. It is made of 2 different kinds of perforated mildsteel sheets, silk cord and silver.
At the studio I constantly revisit what is left over from previous production or what is incomplete and try to find other possibilities or potential. This brooch is one of them. First it had a couple of unresolved technical issues but for this second try I have used yellow silk cord and followed the pattern of perforation. It was like drawing new lines on the object and I was full of curiosity to read another three dimensional possibility from it, which was a really enjoyable process.

이유: 매일 매일의 힘든 노력이 필요함에도 나는 꼭 이 블로그를 8월까지 100일 동안을 쓰고자 한다. 그냥 한 두 단락의 글이지만 만들기에 이보다 더한 마음챙기는 과정이 있을 수 있을까? 무언가를 만든다는 것은 때로, 혹은 너무 자주 보상이 없는 행위라 나를 때로 허무하게 만들었었다. (내가 도대체 여기서 뭘 하고 있지 같은 의문을 주는..) 그러나 지금은 이 허무주의를 (공사상을) 늘 변하는 궁극적 진실로 받아들였기 때문에 틀림없이 내 창의성에 공헌하리라고 믿는다. 배움이란 나를 성장시키는 얼마나 큰 성공적인 과정인가!
재방문: 이 브로치는 2019년 처음 만들어진 이후로 다시 재완성 되었다. 이전의 블로그 25일째 기록에 짧은 글을 참고하시기를 바란다. 2개의 다른 패턴의 천공을 이용한 기본구조에 실크실과 은이 사용되었다. 작업실에서 나는 끊임없이 이전에 완성된 작업들에 사용되고 남은 부분들 혹은 미완성작을 늘 재방문한다. 그래서 다른 가능성이나 잠재력을 찾으려 한다. 이 브로치도 그중 하나이다. 첫번째 것은 기술적으로 풀지 못하는 문제점이 있었으나 다시 만들면서 노란실을 사용해 천공의 무늬를 따라가려고 하였다. 마치 만들어진 오브제에 그림을 그리듯 나는 새로운 3차원 형태를 보려는 호기심으로 가득찼었고 그 과정은 즐거운 것이었다.
