Day 7: Mycelium Windows (drawing)
My visual diary is a collection of visual references made up of notes and record of making, some collages, photos and images of inspiration, drawings and when I look up English words translated from Korean I write the translation from the dictionary. From when I started university in 2000 I have filled and kept many volumes and they are the most valuable record of my work. To buy special diaries has been the luxury of my life as an artist.

Visual diary I bought in Korea from the exhibition “Lee Jung-Seob- 100 years Myth”
Making samples of forms and structures inspired by Mycelium Window I moved my ideas onto bigger paper than the visual diary. Looking for better shapes from window and frame this abstract piece is created using coloured pencils on white paper then completed with spray paint onto perforated sheets to add texture.
Quote from Artists Network: “Every piece of art has it’s own vocabulary, a visual vocabulary that give it structure and interest. This vocabulary is made up of six basic elements: Line, Texture, Shape, Form, Color, and Value. Whether you do abstract art, non-objective, or even realistic, you’ll find at least one, if not more, of these elements at work.”
For this work I was trying to find shape, form and colour. I was happy that I can still utilise perforation as an element of the pattern in this two-dimensional work. The colour has been changed from blue to red tones. I love the final texture.
I will try more of abstract paintings but next time use with acrylic paint with proper paper.

내 비쥬얼 다이어리(예술가 노트)는 나의 만들기 과정의 기록, 콜라지, 영감사진이나 이미지, 여러 그림 그리고 심지어 예술서적 독서로 부터 알게된 단어번역 페이지들로 구성된 시각적 자료의 집합이다. 2000년 예술과 디자인 코스를 대학에서 시작한 이후로 나는 수십권의 비쥬얼 다이어리를 가져왔고 이것은 내 작업의 가장 소중한 기록이다. 그래서 특별한 다이어리를 사는 것이 내 예술가로서의 생활에 하나의 작은 드문 호사이다.
마이셀리움 창문들에 영감을 받은 형태와 구조를 이번에는 다이어리보다 큰 종이에 옮겨보았다. 창문과 틀의 더 나은 구조를 찾으면서 이 추상화는 흰 종이에 색연필로 시작해 끝에는 내 작품에 늘 사용했던 천공된 철의 패턴을 스프레이 페인트를 사용해 종이 위에 덧 뿌리면서 질감적인 면도 완성되었다.

이 작품에서 나는 모양, 형태 그리고 색을 주로 찾고자 했는데 특히 이 그림의 완성단계에서 천공의 무늬를 다시 사용할 수 있어서 기뻤다. 색의 기본 톤이 파란색에서 빨간색으로 완전히 변했으나 이 완성된 질감이 맘에 들었다.
다음 추상화를 위해서는 좀 더 나은 종이에 아크릴 물감을 사용해 볼 생각이다.
