Day 6: Mycelium window3

I keep making small structures inspired by the windows and frames at Mycelium studios. Considering it is a handmade geometric shape the accuracy of the structure is always left as something I need to work on more. It is difficult to make a perfect rectangular frame for the same shape of blue acrylic. The rectangle shape is difficult using hands and not machinery. It took a long time to build the dark yellow frame with brass, soldered onto perforated mildsteel (gray) with accurate 90 degree angles and straight poles . The structure above the blue acrylic was added so a brooch pin to be soldered. I would like to produce a group of works with similar composition as this one and then decide each one’s wearability.

They don’t have to be wearable, but as a contemporary jewellery maker I would love to see these little forms and structures worn to appreciate as an addition to the human form.

내 작업실이 있는 마이셀리움 스튜디오의 창문과 그 틀에서 영감을 받은 구조물을 계속해서 만들어 보고 있다. 손으로 만드는 기하학적 구조라는 점을 고려할 때 그것의 정확성이 항상 아쉬움으로 남는다. 위의 내가 만든 구조물을 볼 때 우선 직사각형의 파란 플라스틱을 고정할 직사각형의 틀을 만드는데 몇가지 문제점이 보인다. 황동 (약간 짙은 노란색) 으로 그 틀을 만들어 천공무늬가 이미 있는 철판에 정확하게 직각으로 똑바른 기둥 네개를 부착하는 땜 작업은 시간이 오래걸리는 작업이었다. 파란 플라스틱 창틀 위에 덧대진 황동의 디귿자 구조는 브로치 핀을 생각하고 만든 것이다. 일단 이것과 비슷한  구조물들과 작은 형태들을 몇개 시리즈로 더 만들어 보고 장신구로서 착용성을 결정할 생각이다. 모두 장신구가 되어야 할 필요는 없지만 현대장신구를 만드는 작가로서 나는 내가 만든 작은 구조와 형태물들이 사람들의 몸 위에 착용되어 감상되는 것을 보고싶다.
