Day 78 : Work 78. Commissioned
In March I made these works commissioned through egetal. For day 12: work 12 I will only talk about pendant and earrings.
These are the creation based on my old works and especially the earrings and the pendant both were originally made of blackened mildsteel and gold. I loved the colour harmony or interference between yellow and black and as a jewellery maker using mildsteel and gold or brass it was worth trying to make a piece using those 2 materials.
Sometimes clients order the same piece of jewellery in different materials and I have experience of that mainly for rings. The original ones in black and gold were all one off shapes and I remember I loved the process of making. I also remember I was trying something different and did experiment to combine with organic theme and shapes.
The client wanted me to make the same pea pod on the right from the image above and one pair of earrings in silver and powder coated red. I have made many red and silver bracelets but not many of earrings and pendants so I couldn’t wait to see the final pieces after powder coated, cleaned and polished.
I delivered these works to the gallery early March then there has been COVID-19 era so far. The gallery has closed and now the business is on line only. I hope they are with the client safe and sound now and she enjoys the pieces as much as I enjoyed them in the process of creating.
