Day 90: 10 more days to go-go online
Six months ago in early March this year I slowly started to build up a new series of work for a group show.
Our Mycelium studio members (Amanda Croatto, Ann Welton, Cass Prinzi, Pam Camille and I ) started to gather ideas together to plan for a group show as part of Radiant Pavilion 2021. The theme we agreed was to create new bodies of work inspired byreading the place and contemplating the meaning of the space whilst working at their own pace in our creative processes. The exhibition was supposed to be in ‘The Village’, Mycelium Studios’ a beautiful communal space, highlighting our connections with other tenants.. However, Melbourne is under lockdown #6 and with this uncertainty we have decided to make this show online. At the moment thankfully Amanda is building up the initial page for all of us so I would like to take this chance to tidy my ideas, inspirations, test pieces and outcomes of my new series of work, “Pipe way”.
I happen to be in the habit of thinking so much and so big that sometimes I don’t even know where and how to wrap it up. Also even though the project has been going well and developing a great deal of potential I often feel sick of it and become ambiguous about what I am achieving. This could be because I have been dealing with it too long and thinking too deeply and personally. Perhaps I should not set any goal beyond creating a new body of work in my mind, which I may not realise. it is my strange habit where I feel unsatisfied about the result than celebrating it. But it is definitely about time to organise the thoughts and insights I have got out of this project. For the next 10 days I will focus on writing about looking back on last six months' as well as exhibition design.

I am trying to let you know that I am still producing jewellery orders as well as exhibition preparation. I have a couple of orders to complete before early September and I am showing you a couple of them below.
Mildsteel and silver-Production of triangle earrings and some pendants
올해 3월 초 그러니까 6개월전 나는 천천히 우리의 그룹전을 준비하기 시작하였다. 우리 작업실 멤버들(아만다, 앤, 캐스,팸 그리고 나)은 2021 래디언트 퍼빌리온 그룸저을 계획하기 위하여 함께 아이디어를 모으기 시작하였다. 우리가 동의한 테마는 우리가 속해 있는 장소를 탐독하고 그 공간의 의미를 깊이 숙고하여 우리 각자의 속도로 작업하는 창작과정에서 얻어진 영감을 가지고 새로운 일련의 작업을 완성시키는 것이었다. 전시회는 다른 작가들과의 상호연결을 강조하는 의미로 마이셀리움 스튜디오 내부의 아름다운 공유공간인 “빌리지”에서 치뤄지기로 했었다. 그러나 멜버른은 여섯번째의 봉쇄조치 아래 그 미래에 대한 불확실하믕로 우리는 이 전시회를 온라인으로 가기로 정하였다. 지금은 고맙게도 작업실 멤버인 아만다가 우리 웹사이트의 초안을 잡아주고 있는데 나는 이것을 내 아이디어, 영감, 테스트 작업들과 새로운 시리즈인 결과물인 “파이프 웨이”에 이르기까지 정리를 할 기회로 삼고싶다.
나는 한 프로젝트를 너무나 크고 복잡하게 생각하는 버릇으로 심지어 어디서 그리고 어떻게 그것을 끝낼지를 모를 때가 있다. 또한 그 프로젝트가 잘 진행되어 많은 잠재력을 개발했는데도 불구하고 그것에 싫증나서 내가 성취한 것이 모호해지기도 한다. 이것은 내가 프로젝트를 너무 장기간, 깊게, 개인적인 의미를 가득 담아 매달려 온 결과이기도 하다. 어쩌면 마음 속에는 새로운 작업을 만드는 것 이상으로 프로젝트의 목표를 잡아 그것을 내가 미쳐 깨닫지 못하고 있는지도 모르겠다.늘 결과를 축하하기 보다는 초라하게 여기는 이상한 버릇. 그렇지만 지금은 절대적으로 내가 이 프로젝트에서 얻은 생각과 통찰력을 정리할 시간이다. 다음 열흘간은 지난 6개월의 발자취를 회고하는 것에 촛점을 두고 쓸 것이다.
그러나 여기서 한가지 알려둘 것은 나는 전시회 준비 뿐아니라 몇몇 장신구 주문 작업도 병행해서 하고 있다는 것이다. 9월초까지 끝내야할 작업들이 있고 위에 몇몇을 보여주고 있다.
