Steel Tales: Crafting the Unseen No.3 – The Story Behind "Wrought"

Steel Tales: Crafting the Unseen No.3 – The Story Behind "Wrought"

This "Wrought" series reflects my interpretation of the exhibition theme and title, “Site Specific” at egetal, as part of Radiant pavillion. The first story was developed in 2022

At our new home which was built in 1960s there was gas heater in the living room when we moved in. Considering how expensive the gas bill is and it was too old to be used safely anyway we took it out and dismantled so we can take it to the steel scrap yard near us. In the process what caught my eyes was this perforated mild steel scrap from the inside the structure.

Gas Heater dismantled

I picked it up, took it to my bench and made a couple of objects including these bracelets and simple earrings. The material was perfectly ok with soldering, cleaning, sand blasting and Powdercoating.

From scrap to Jewellery

We are still a bit long way to settle down and to have a proper housewarming party but this little findings here and there at the house somehow makes me feel I’m home💕💕. So if you have any scrap metal deserted but awaiting someone to make something meaningful you can contact me. I would love to have a chance to create something nice, weird or perhaps very special! ❤️
