“Making jewellery is all about creating wearable unpredicted forms”

I have made so many round and square bangles to show the beauty of simplicity, the sharpness of geometry and the lightness of perforated materials. They are mostly rolled around the wearer’s wrist and move up and down following the movement of the arm.

Each of them are the statement pieces that show how much I would love to make geometric forms and see them on the body. As long as the size of the inner diameter fits to the wearer’s wrist there has not been any trouble I experienced during producing them. There have been multiple choices of colours as well.

However, this time I have tried this cuff bracelet.

Cuff bracelets do not close on the wrist like bangles I have made but simply rest on the wrist with an open area on the inside of the wrist. These are worn low on the wrist bone rather than pushed up the forearm.

While making even though I still enjoy the simplicity of the form I thought I would need a different mandrel (oval mandrel) for producing.

Considering wearability was definitely the core of this bracelet and it was a wonderful process of making an effort to combine the aesthetics of form and wearability. How will it get response from the wearers and viewers? Stay tuned!
