I finished cleaning this pendant a couple of days ago. Someone was interested in several pendants of mine so I thought I may as well finish this pendant. This is the original one I made for the show “Spirit of Hang-in” at Powerhouse museum in 2011. However, this time I did matt black powder coating this piece to give more distinctive contrast between the black and sharp silver rim.

The starting point for this work is one simple 2-square cube. I cut 2 pieces of square, hammered them, soldered the points then added silver rim at the 4 ends. It was quite satisfying outcome so that I have made 2 cubes, 4 cubes called clover and 9 cubes as variations. To observe the way the forms have been built from this simple repetition is one of the best joys at the bench. Definitely worth to try agin with different size, colour or even different numbers. 16 from 9, 9 from 4, 4 from 2 and 2 from 1.
